Advocates for Trans*
Law Students
Advocates for Trans* Law Students (ATLS) is the nation's first transgender law student advocacy group, aiming to provide support, community, and advocacy for TNBGNC students at Fordham Law School.
About Us
ATLS has provided hundreds of New Yorkers with assistance in changing their legal name and sex designation through our community name change program.
We help transgender, non-binary, and gender-diverse New Yorkers self-file their name and/or gender marker change petitions in court.
ATLS engages in local, state, and national trans rights activism, raising awareness about issues affecting our community on campus.
By working closely with administration and faculty, ATLS improves the lives of TNBGNC students at Fordham University School of Law; for example, through our advocacy, all gendered restrooms now have gender-affirming signs, and both faculty trainings and student orientations include trans-specific guidance.
